JOB DESCRIPTION - AK Teaching are looking to recruit a Law and Criminology Teacher starting in January 2020. The candidate must be experienced in teaching Key Stage 5. The position will commence in January 2020 and will run until the end of November 2020
ROLE - You will be working in Key Stage 5 following the A Level Law, BTEC Law and Level 3 Applied Certificate and Applied Diploma Criminology curriculum and will be supported by a dedicated and experienced department.
Experience of teaching A Level law is desirable
During the first year of study, students will be introduced to the English Legal System as a whole. The course is delivered through a range of teaching and learning methods and will focus on the development of the necessary essay-writing and problem-solving skills needed to achieve success in the examinations.
During the second year of study, students will begin a more in-depth study of substantive law. This will
include Criminal Law, the Law of Tort and Contract Law.
Experience of teaching the following aspects of Criminology is desirable:
1 Changing awareness of crime
2 Criminological theories
3 Crime scene to courtroom
4 Crime and punishment
CANDIDATE - The school are looking for somebody with:
- Drive and ambition
- Experience of teaching Law and Criminology from past employment or teaching placements
- Excellent communication skills
- Adaptable across subjects and a good Law and Criminology curriculum knowledge
- Qualified Teacher status with a good understanding of differentiation and behaviour management
